Young fundraisers complete incredible 150-mile cycling challenge for The Joshua Tree

Two determined young fundraisers have successfully completed an incredible 150-mile cycling challenge, raising more than £5,000 for The Joshua Tree.

Kaiden and Alfie set themselves the ambitious challenge of cycling from Cambridge United FC to Crewe Alexandra FC, combining their love of football with a desire to give back to a charity close to their hearts.

Kaiden’s family experienced first-hand the support provided by The Joshua Tree while his younger sister, Faye, was undergoing cancer treatment. During an incredibly difficult time, the charity helped support the whole family, and this challenge was their way of saying thank you while helping ensure other families can access the same support.

Over three demanding days, the team faced relentless hills, punctures, route diversions and changing weather. Despite the setbacks, Kaiden and Alfie showed remarkable resilience, refusing to let any obstacle stop them from reaching their goal.

One of the riders, Chris, reflected on the challenge:

“This challenge tested every ounce of our physical strength and mental endurance. I couldn’t be prouder of all of us for pushing through, supporting each other and refusing to give up. The reception we received when we returned to Crewe gave us goosebumps, it was a tangible reminder that our effort had made a real difference.”

The final day proved to be the toughest, with some of the steepest climbs of the entire route awaiting the boys after already cycling well over 100 miles. Their determination never faltered, and with encouragement from the support team, they completed the challenge to a fantastic welcome back in Crewe.

Reflecting on what they achieved, Alfie said:

“It was very tough physically and mentally, but all worth it for a good cause.”

Kaiden added:

“It was very hard, but I know that the children in treatment have gone through tougher.”

The group have already raised more than £5,000, with donations continuing to support families affected by childhood cancers across the North West and North Wales.

Everyone at The Joshua Tree would like to say a huge thank you to Kaiden, Alfie and the entire support team for taking on such an inspiring challenge. Your determination, generosity and community spirit will make a real difference to families.
