At The Joshua Tree, we believe in the power of family unity and community spirit. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our participation in an exciting art project, and we want you to be a part of it!
The Goal:
Our goal is simple yet profound: to bring families together to create a unique piece of artwork that will be proudly displayed at The Joshua Tree support centre. Through a series of workshops, families will embark on a creative journey to design a beautiful tree artwork using the screen-printing process.
Why Be Involved:
Just like our group wellbeing sessions, these workshops offer families an opportunity to unite over art and create something meaningful together. It’s a chance for individuals to take a wellbeing break, reset their thoughts, and momentarily step away from the challenges of their childhood cancer journey. By participating, families can take pride in the finished tree design and share the joy it brings with others.
Meet the Artist:
We’re thrilled to partner with professional artist and print-maker, Tara Dean. Tara brings a wealth of experience and creativity to the project, with a keen interest in delivering community workshops that foster experimentation and storytelling through art.
Drawing is at the heart of Tara’s practice, and she’ll guide participants through the process of layering, cutting stencils, and masking areas to produce textured colour and alternative interpretations of the original line.

Workshop Update:
We have two more exciting sessions planned for September 14th and October 19th. These workshops will be run by a different artist and will feature stand-alone, fun activities where families can make items to take home at the end of each session.
More details will be provided closer to the dates.
We look forward to seeing you there!
