British actress Sue Devaney, better known for her appearances in Coronation Street, Dinner ladies, Shameless and Jonny Briggs to name but a few, has joined The Joshua Tree as Patron to the charity.
Sue brings not only personal experience of childhood cancer within her own family, but also a huge passion for all that The Joshua Tree stand for, and in supporting the charity will help raise awareness of the support offered to families affected by childhood cancers.
“I am absolutely chuffed to support The Joshua Team as Patron and not only raise awareness of the incredible work they do supporting families affected by a childhood cancer diagnosis but help make a difference where I can. I grew up around hospitals as a child as my brother had Leukaemia. My sister and I would have loved a safe, happy place to spend time in, like the amazing Joshua Tree. I understand the trauma experienced by families and how the support of the charity can really help them during such a distressing time. It is my honour to be patron of such a special charity.” Commented Sue.
“We are delighted to have a Sue join us as a new Patron at such an exciting time for the charity. Not only will Sue bring a huge amount of energy and charisma, but also an understanding of the impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis.” Said Pippa Watson-Peck, Fundraising and Communications Manager.
