The Joshua Tree’s Amy Nominated for Cheshire Woman of the Year 2025

In just under three weeks, the prestigious Cheshire Woman of the Year Awards will take place at Chester Race Course, and The Joshua Tree is proud to announce that Amy Wilkinson, the charity’s Events and Community Fundraiser, has been nominated for this remarkable honour.

Amy has been an integral part of The Joshua Tree (TJT) for nearly four years, leading the growth of its fundraising events, community challenges, and fostering relationships with passionate local fundraisers. Thanks to her dedication, TJT’s community fundraising initiatives have flourished, maximising their impact and support for families affected by childhood cancers.

Founded 19 years ago by Lynda and Dai Hill, parents of Joshua Hill who was diagnosed with cancer at age five, The Joshua Tree has a strong legacy of powerful women driving the charity forward. Notably, in 2014, founder Lynda Hill was herself crowned Cheshire Woman of the Year!

Amy’s connection to the cause is deeply personal. In 2009, she lost her daughter Maddie to childhood cancer at the age of six and The Joshua Tree supported her family to recover. Now a single mother to three amazing boys, Amy channels her energy and passion into developing impactful fundraising events, often enlisting her boys to help volunteer and complete fundraising challenges.

Reflecting on her nomination, Amy shares:

I’m not only honoured and privileged to have been nominated alongside so many amazing women, I’m a little gobsmacked too. Within my work life, family life and social life, I endeavour to make each day matter, to help put smiles on faces, and raise not just needed funds for TJT but the profile too, making others aware of what we do and why.

Women in Cheshire don’t clip other’s wings, we add feathers to help each other fly, being in a room of wonderful Women, making connections and sharing stories is a win for me, I’m so excited and truly humbled.”

Danielle Percival, Head of Family Support at The Joshua Tree, praises Amy’s impact:

“Amy has an extraordinary ability to connect with everyone she meets, bringing warmth, sunshine, and an infectious zest for life, even in the face of her own adversity. Her compassion, strength, and resilience are truly inspirational, and this recognition reflects the incredible difference she continues to make.”

David Perrin, Head of Operations at TJT, adds:

“Amy continues to break down barriers and set new standards. Whether through her pioneering charity work or her drive to always achieve more, she is a powerful force for positive change. Beyond her professional achievements, Amy embodies compassion and determination and tirelessly champions the need to support others.”

The Joshua Tree and the entire community wish Amy and all nominees the best of luck at the upcoming Cheshire Woman of the Year Awards.
